My 40th year begins

I should know better... Around my birthday I often become a life cheerleader, suddenly acquiring the enthusiasm of Patty Simcox (or those people who hand out star maps on the street). This year I should have been feeling particularly cautious because I'd recently lost my health insurance (well, let it lapse), and was feeling much exposed to 'what if' scenarios. But that didn't stop me. I went on a debaucherous 4 day binge with my two best drinking buddies (and for one night a third who couldn't keep up with us pros ;-). It was the most fun I've had in a while and was exactly what escape is supposed to feel like.

Now, I'm back. My house looks like I (the maid) went away for a few months not a few days. My husband is sick, the kids are pesky, and I'm just an emotional wreck. This isn't just the birthday blues, the inevitable post vacation depression, the harsh back to reality feeling I was bound to experience. It's a syndrome and I just named it OH SHIT!

If all goes according to plan we're moving to another country (sight unseen for me and the kids) in just 8 weeks. Sounds crazy? It may be. Are we prepared? Not even a little bit. It may be the kind of opportunity, the total winger in life that makes perfect sense in hindsight. I don't know. All I know is that we're about to push the reset button on our lives and start an adventure. Crazy, whiny, ranting, insecure posts may or may not follow, and I just don't feel comfortable sharing.

So, even though I've been a very shitty LJer, I'm trimming my friends list down to the select few I want to witness the family drama of my next life chapter, be it a nightmare, the best decision I ever made, or both. Best of luck to you all!
